About DeAnna Torres, Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist...
After 20 years of being a school teacher and home-schooling mom, I decided it was time to change to a career that more suited me. In 2009, I graduated from The California Hypnotherapy Academy, which was located in Sacramento at that time, and is directed by Katherine Zimmerman PhD, a well-known and respected leader in the field.
In addition to 200 hours of basic hypnotherapist training, Katherine also requires another 100 hours in advanced techniques and a supervised practicum, as well as the successful passing of the exam set by the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners, for completion of her certified Clinical Hypnotherapist course.
In conjunction with my hypnosis training and therapeutic studies, I began a 12-year apprenticeship in shamanic healing, studying intensively with Dr. Hank Wesselman and Jill Kuykendall to learn the beautiful art of soul retrieval and spirit healing. I find that these two practices blend very well, and that together they allow me to guide my clients into an even more balanced way of being in the world.
In 2011, I trained with Dr. Michael Newton and The Newton Institute to learn his method of Between-Lives hypnotherapy, which added another dimension (literally!) to my work with clients, and I was a Case Reviewer with TNI from 2013-2023.
My greatest joy in this work comes from helping people to find freedom: both from the debilitating effects of soul fragmentation and from the tyranny of unconsciously-held beliefs about themselves, others and the world around them. Carl Jung referred to these beliefs collectively as our Shadow -- the parts of ourselves that we have dissociated from and kept hidden because they were not "socially acceptable".
My work is to guide you in your exploration beneath the surface of your conscious awareness; to rediscover, heal and integrate these lost pieces of yourself, so that you can live the more whole, satisfying and meaningful life you've always known you were meant to have.
Now for the legal disclosure, in answer to the question of whether or not I'm licensed: "The services to be provided do not include the practice of medicine, as Hypnotherapists are not licensed physicians, psychiatrists or psychotherapists. These services are non-diagnostic, and are complementary to the healing arts services that are licensed by the State. The Legislature finds that these non-medical complementary and alternative services do not pose a known risk to the health and safety of California residents, and that restricting access to those services is not warranted. Accordingly, Hypnotherapists are not issued licenses by any State Governmental Agency to engage in their professional services."
